Recap: Army vs. Wake Forest

West Point, NY (Sports Network) - Josh Harris ran for a pair of touchdowns as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the Army Black Knights, 25-11, in non- conference action at Michie Stadium.

Harris carried the ball 19 times and finished with 96 yards for the Demon Deacons (2-2) as they snapped a two-game slide. Tanner Price, who accounted for 66 rushing yards on 11 attempts, converted 6-of-17 passes for 132 yards and a score.

The Black Knights (1-3), losers of three straight after opening the 2013 campaign with a 28-12 victory over Morgan State, were paced by Terry Baggett who registered a game-high 125 yards on 15 rushing attempts. The team as a whole gained 271 yards on 55 attempts in the setback.

Army quarterbacks combined to hit on 10-of-18 passes for just 86 yards.

The first points of the afternoon were registered by the Army defense as Richard Glover took down Harris in the end zone for a sack at the 3:14 mark of the first quarter,

With just over a minute to play in the opening period, the Demon Deacons had a chance to put points on the board, but a 25-yard field goal attempt by Chad Hedlund hit the left upright and bounced back into the end zone.

However, Army turned the ball right back over to Wake Forest when a Schurr fumble was recovered by Hunter Williams at the 40-yard line just two plays later. Hedlund was given another opportunity, this time from 35 yards away and he made good to give the Deacons a slim 3-2 edge.

Wake Forest made the score 10-2 when Price combined with Michael Campanaro on a 66-yard TD pass late in the first half. Before the break, Army was able to respond with a 39-yard field goal by Dan Grochowski, leaving the Academy with a five-point deficit at intermission.

Grochowski struck again at the 10:05 mark of the third on a 32-yard effort, drawing the hosts to within two. Army took the lead briefly later in the period when Grochowski was credited with another 32-yard field goal.

Unfortunately for the Academy, Wake Forest needed just four plays and less than two minutes to respond as Harris found the end zone on a 15-yard run at the 1:42 mark of the period. Price then combined with Jonathan Williams on a two-point conversion to provide the Demon Deacons with a seven-point margin, 18-11.

Harris tacked on a six-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put even more distance between the Demon Deacons and Army.

Wake Forest survived despite suffering nine tackles for loss and converted just 4-of-12 on third down.
