Recap: Washington St vs. Idaho
Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Connor Halliday threw for 346 yards and four touchdowns as the Washington State Cougars rolled to a 42-0 victory over the Idaho Vandals at Martin Stadium.
Halliday completed 31-of-43 pass attempts but was also intercepted twice for Washington State (3-1). Gabe Marks brought in 11 passes for 146 yards and two scores while Vince Mayle and Dominique Williams also collected touchdown passes. Jeremiah Laufasa picked up 41 yards and two scores on six carries.
Chad Chalich completed 17-of-23 pass attempts for Idaho (0-4) but totaled only 167 yards. Dezmon Epps brought in six passes for 37 yards, all team-highs. James Baker rushed for 43 yards on 11 carries.
Deone Bucannon collected an interception early in the first quarter to set up the Cougars' first score. Three plays after the turnover, Halliday threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Marks.
Halliday threw his second touchdown pass of the game midway through the second quarter on a 30-yard strike to Williams.
On Idaho's next possession, Kristoffer Olugbode fumbled the ball, which was then recovered by Washington State. On the very next play, Halliday threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Mayle.
Marks collected his second touchdown reception of the game just before halftime when Halliday hit him from a yard out.
Laufasa scored on a pair of touchdown runs, one from 13 yards out and the other from three yards, on consecutive drives in the second half to cap off the scoring and finish off the Cougars' victory.
Washington State had 417 total yards to just 253 from Idaho. The win was the first shutout for Washington State since 2003.Game Notes
