New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tulane will remain at home for the college football postseason, accepting a bid Tuesday to play in the New Orleans Bowl.

It will be the school's first appearance in its hometown bowl game and the 11th bowl invitation in Green Wave history.

Tulane, which finished 7-5 overall and 5-3 in Conference USA, will take on Louisiana of the Sun Belt Conference in the Dec. 21 contest at the Superdome -- the Green Wave's home field.

"We are excited about the opportunity to participate in the New Orleans Bowl and to play one more game in the Superdome," said Tulane coach Curtis Johnson. "This game is a great reward for the hard work and dedication our coaches and players have demonstrated throughout the 2013 season. We look forward to playing an in-state opponent and cannot wait to begin our bowl preparations."

Tulane earned a bowl bid for the first time since 2002 when the Green Wave beat Hawaii in the inaugural Hawaii Bowl.

The Green Wave and Ragin' Cajuns will meet for the 27th time since 1911. Tulane leads the all-time series, 21-5, but lost the last meeting, 41-13, in October 2012 in Lafayette.
