Tuscaloosa, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Alabama freshman quarterback Luke Del Rio announced on Twitter Wednesday that he is leaving the program.
"I had an incredible year at Bama, it's sad to say that it will be my last, I'm excited for the next chapter of my life and what it will bring," Del Rio said on his Twitter account.
Del Rio, who is the son of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, did not specify where he'd go next.
He came to Alabama as a walk-on after turning down scholarship offers from Oklahoma State and Oregon State among others and redshirted this past year.
Del Rio's exit still leaves the Crimson Tide several options to replace A.J. McCarron at quarterback, including his backup this season Blake Sims. The other crop of quarterbacks include Alec Morris, Cooper Bateman, Parker McLeod and incoming freshman David Cornwell.
