Recap: Old Dominion vs. Radford

Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Richard Ross led the way with a double- double, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds, as the Old Dominion Monarchs defeated the Radford Highlanders, 82-59, in the quarterfinal round of the College Basketball Invitational at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

For the Monarchs (18-17), Ambrose Mosley added 15 points, Dimitri Batten scored 14 and Aaron Bacote and Keenan Palmore each chipped in with 10 points. The Monarchs will await the results of other quarterfinal-round action to determine their next opponent.

Javonte Green led the Highlanders (22-13) with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Ya Ya Anderson finished with 11 points.

ODU shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, giving it a comfortable advantage at halftime, 39-23. Radford struggled in the opening period, hitting on just 30 percent of its field goal tries and missing all but one of its nine attempts from 3-point range.

The Monarchs kept up the pressure in the second half, knocking down 57.1 percent of their shots from the floor. Despite connecting on 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, part of a 45.8 percent overall shooting performance after the break, the Highlanders were never able to make it a game in the second half, trailing by double digits throughout.

The Monarchs dominated in the paint, outscoring the Highlanders 46-33 down low. ODU also finished with a 44-29 rebounding edge on the night.
