Recap: UNC-Wilmington vs. Northeastern

Wilmington, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Craig Ponder finished with 11 points and six rebounds as the UNC Wilmington Seahawks defeated the Northeastern Huskies, 55-45, in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at Trask Coliseum.

Dylan Sherwood added 10 points and five rebounds for the Seahawks (8-19, 2-10 CAA), who have now won two games in a row following their 14-game losing streak.

David Walker paced Northeastern (8-18, 5-7) with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor while Scott Eatherton recorded a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

UNCW took a 23-20 lead into the intermission despite being held to 32 percent shooting from the floor in the opening period. The Huskies managed to knock down only 33.3 percent of their field goal attempts and missed all five of their tries at the charity stripe in the first half.

Northeastern continued to struggle after the break as it was held to 31 percent efficiency from the floor including a 3-of-12 clip from 3-point range over the final 20 minutes of the contest. The Seahawks connected on 41.7 percent of their field goal attempts in the second stanza and closed out the game on a 15-4 run.

UNCW's bench outscored the Huskies' reserves, 29-2. Northeastern finished 4- of-14 at the free-throw line.
