Recap: Ark-Little Rock vs. Southern Miss

Tortola, B.V.I (SportsNetwork.com) - Neil Watson finished with 19 points as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles downed the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, 74-60, in the championship bout of the BVI Tropical Shootout at the Multi- Purpose Sports Complex.

For the Golden Eagles (11-2), Daveon Boardingham added 11 points and Michael Craig posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

James White led the Trojans (4-7) with 18 points and five rebounds, while Will Neighbor chipped in with 12 points.

Despite making just 36.7 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, USM took a 33-28 lead at the break. UALR hit on 50 percent from the floor in the first, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range, but had 10 fewer field goal attempts than the Golden Eagles.

The Trojans struggled from the field after halftime, shooting 40.7 percent and 4-of-12 from 3-point range. The Golden Eagles found their shooting touch in the second half, knocking down 60.9 percent of their field goal attempts in the period. They used a 12-2 run early in the second half to build a double- digit lead, eventually pushing ahead by as many as 22, as they cruised to victory.

The Golden Eagles had the edge on points in the paint, 38-28. USM outrebounded UALR 33-27.
