Recap: Green Bay vs. Tulsa
Anchorage, AK (SportsNetwork.com) - Keifer Sykes tallied 25 points and nine assists as the Green Bay Phoenix outlasted the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 67-59, in the third-place game of the Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.
Sykes was just 6-of-17 from the field but knocked down 13-of-14 at the foul line, as he scored at least 20 points for the fifth straight game for Green Bay (4-2). Greg Mays registered 12 points and eight rebounds, Alec Brown scored 11 points and Jordan Fouse contributed 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
For Tulsa (1-6), Rashad Smith logged a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, although no one else scored in double figures.
Neither team shot greater than 37 percent from the field in the first half, but Tulsa made one more 3-pointer than Green Bay and took a 29-26 lead into the break.
The Phoenix didn't exactly heat up after intermission, as they shot just 39.4 percent from the field, but it made all 12 of their free-throw attempts as they pulled away. The Golden Hurricane regressed from the field in the second stanza (.233).
Green Bay won the rebounding battle, 46-33, and outscored the Golden Hurricane in the paint, 34-18.Game Notes
