Recap: Dayton vs. California
Maui, HI (SportsNetwork.com) - Devin Oliver poured in 21 points as the Dayton Flyers made easy work of the California Golden Bears, 82-64, to claim third place at the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Jalen Robinson scored 17 points for the Flyers (6-1) while Vee Sanford chipped in 14. Kyle Davis added 12 points, and Devon Scott brought down eight rebounds.
Justin Cobbs led the way for the Golden Bears (5-2) with a career-high 31 points. David Kravish had a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards while adding five blocks as well.
The Golden Bears struggled to score early on, shooting 32.3 percent in the first half. Meanwhile, the Flyers shot 45.5 percent from the floor, leading to a 37-27 advantage at intermission.
Dayton's bench outscored Cal's 26-5 in the second half. The Flyers also made 51.6 percent of their field goal tries in the final 20 minutes, which allowed them to cruise down the stretch en route to the 18-point victory.
Although Dayton only held the rebounding advantage by a slim 37-34 margin, it was able to dominate in the paint by outscoring Cal, 48-24. The Flyers also played well in transition and edged out the Golden Bears 15-0 in fast break points.Game Notes
