Recap: Washington vs. Boston College
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Joe Rahon scored 22 points to lead the Boston College Eagles over the Washington Huskies, 89-78, in the consolation final bout of the 2K Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden.
Rahon shot 8-of-12 from the field and knocked down 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc for Boston College (2-4) which bounced back after a hard-fought loss to 18th ranked Connecticut on Thursday. Olivier Hanlan added 20 points and four assists while Ryan Anderson contributed 18 points and seven rebounds. Lonnie Jackson managed 10 points and seven rebounds while hitting a trio of 3- pointers.
C.J. Wilcox scored a career-high 30 points for the Huskies (2-3) but it was not enough to help the squad avoid its second straight loss. Darin Johnson added 11 points while Andrew Andrews and Mike Anderson contributed 10 points each. Anderson grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
In the first half, the Eagles shot an impressive 58.6 percent from the field and made eight 3-pointers. The Huskies converted only 43.3 percent of their shots from the floor which led to a 46-34 deficit at the break.
Washington outscored Boston College, 44-43, in the second half but still allowed the Eagles to shoot 53.3 percent from the field. The Huskies knocked down 5-of-7 from 3-point range to slightly cut into Boston College's lead.
The Eagles held a 34-27 rebounding edge which proved to be the difference in a game with both teams shooting efficiently from the field. Boston College shot 55.9 percent from the field while Washington shot just below 50.0 percent overall.Game Notes
