Recap: Georgia vs. Nebraska
Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Four Nebraska Cornhuskers scored in double figures, led by 15 points from Terran Petteway, as they outlasted the Georgia Bulldogs, 73-65, on the final day of competition at the Charleston Classic at TD Arena.
Tai Webster (14 points), Ray Gallegos (11 points) and Leslee Smith (eight points, 11 rebounds) all had strong efforts off the bench for Nebraska (4-2), while Walter Pitchford chipped in 12 points.
For Georgia (1-4), Charles Mann led all scorers with 16 points, while Marcus Thornton and Brandon Morris added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Mann also handed out five assists, and Donte' Williams hauled in 12 rebounds.
Nebraska trailed for much of the first half until a 13-2 run late in the frame pull it ahead. It shot 44.4 percent from the field in the opening stanza and carried a 34-31 lead into intermission.
The Bulldogs came back midway through the second half and held a 52-50 lead with under nine minutes remaining, but the Cornhuskers ran off five straight points to retake the advantage. They would never give up the lead for the rest of the game and helped sealed their fate with a 14-of-17 showing at the foul line over the final 20 minutes.
Nebraska's bench outscored Georgia's, 38-23, and the Cornhuskers also held an advantage in fast-break points (8-2).Game Notes
