Recap: Wright State vs. Youngstown St
Dayton, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Cole Darling came off the bench to score 20 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Wright State Raiders secured a 77-67 win over the Youngstown State Penguins in Horizon League action at the Nutter Center.
Also contributing in a reserve role were Chrishawn Hopkins with 11 points and both Jerran Young and AJ Pacher with 10 as the Raiders (14-12, 6-5 HL) snapped a three-game slide. The only starter to score in double figures for WSU was JT Yoho with 11 points.
The Penguins (13-11, 4-5) were paced by Ryan Weber who tallied a game-high 21 points, followed by Kendrick Perry and Bobby Hain with 16 and 12 points, respectively, the latter also clearing nine rebounds as the visitors lost for the third time in four games.
Youngstown State moved out to an 8-2 advantage early in the first half and led for a good portion of the period, but a 3-pointer by Hopkins put the Raider in front with just over a minute to play before halftime. The Penguins found themselves behind by a score of 35-31 at the break after shooting only 3-of-11 beyond the arc.
In the second half Wright State took control with 60.0 percent accuracy from the field and a 16-of-21 showing at the free-throw line in order to claim the double-digit victory.
The difference in the meeting took place at the charity stripe where YSU was outscored 27-17.Game Notes
