Recap: Northeastern vs. James Madison
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Nation netted 13 points to lead the James Madison Dukes past the Northeastern Huskies, 49-46, in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at Matthews Arena.
Nation shot 6-of-11 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds for JMU (8-13, 3-4 CAA), which has won back-to-back games. Andrey Semenov added nine points in the low-scoring affair.
For Northeastern (7-15, 4-4), David Walker led all scorers with 15 points, while Scott Eatherton hauled in 13 rebounds.
Northeastern shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half, just slightly better than JMU's 42.3 percent. Ron Curry converted a layup at the buzzer for the Dukes, as the back-and-forth opening stanza ended in a 24-24 tie.
JMU took control of the contest midway through the second half, building a lead as big as seven, but Northeastern ripped off a 7-0 run to tie the game at 41 with 5:20 to play. With the game still tied with 3:39 left, Semenov drilled a 3-pointer to give the Dukes the lead for good. Demetrius Pollard missed a long-range attempt at the buzzer for the Huskies as JMU held on.
Although Northeastern won the rebounding battle, 31-28, JMU outscored it in the paint, 32-22.Game Notes
