Recap: Saint Peters vs. Monmouth
Jersey City, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Marvin Dominique netted 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots as the St. Peter's Peacocks disposed of the Monmouth Hawks, 61-50, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at Yanitelli Center.
Desi Washington chipped in 17 points and five rebounds for St. Peter's (9-14, 5-9 MAAC), which has won two games in a row. Chris Burke pulled down a team- high seven boards in the win.
Andrew Nicholas scored 16 points to pace Monmouth (10-15, 4-10), adding seven rebounds to his stat line. Deon Jones contributed 15 points and nine boards in the loss, which was the fifth in a row for the Hawks.
Monmouth shot 38.2 percent from the floor in the first half, and went 1-of-4 from 3-point range, but still took a 30-16 lead into the intermission. St. Peter's shot a miserable 27.3 percent from the floor in the frame, going 1- of-11 from 3-point distance.
The Peacocks came storming back in the second half, connecting on 53.6 percent of their shot attempts and outscoring the Hawks, 45-20, in the period. Monmouth went a dismal 17.9 percent from the floor, including 0-of-10 from deep.
Monmouth hit just one of its 14 3-point attempts in the game, while St. Peter's hit seven. The Hawks had the edge in points in the paint, 30-26.Game Notes
