Recap: Marist vs. Niagara
Poughkeepsie, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jay Bowie scored a career-high 31 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds, as the Marist Red Foxes easily defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles, 78-64, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at McCann Field House.
Chavaughn Lewis registered 14 points and eight assists for the Red Foxes (8-14, 5-7 MAAC), who won their second straight game. Adam Kemp added 10 points for the hosts.
Antoine Mason finished with 19 points as the Purple Eagles (6-17, 3-9) lost their second consecutive decision. Marcus Ware chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds and Marvin Jordan had 12 points.
Marist connected on 53.6 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, as it led 38-35 at intermission. Niagara made just 36.4 percent of its field goal attempts but went 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
The Red Foxes shot 51.9 percent on field goal tries in the second stanza as they pulled away. Marist went on a 24-8 run to start the period, going up by 22 and never looking back.
The home team did a better job of distributing the ball, handing out 17 assists, nine more than Niagara.Game Notes
