Recap: Quinnipiac vs. Manhattan
Hamden, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Zaid Hearst scored 20 points as the Quinnipiac Bobcats topped the Manhattan Jaspers, 81-76, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at TD Bank Sports Center.
Ike Azotam recorded 17 points and 18 rebounds for Quinnipiac (9-5, 4-1 MAAC), which has won three straight. Umar Shannon added 15 points and Ousmane Drame pulled in 14 boards.
Michael Alvarado scored a game-high 23 points to go with 10 rebounds for Manhattan (11-3, 4-1), which had an eight-game winning streak snapped. Shane Richards tallied 11 points off the bench and Ashton Pankey chipped in 10.
Quinnipiac earned a 39-35 lead at halftime despite shooting 35.5 percent from the floor, by outscoring Manhattan, 14-8, from the free-throw line. The Jaspers hit an even 40 percent from the floor in the period.
The Bobcats improved to 44 percent shooting in the second half and once again held an edge at the charity stripe (17-6) to hold off the Jaspers.
Quinnipiac attempted 46 attempts from the foul line, connecting on 31. Manhattan had only 28 foul shots. The Bobcats had 15 assists to only six from the Jaspers.Game Notes
