Recap: Detroit vs. Cleveland State
Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind a career-high-tying 27 points from Bryn Forbes, the Cleveland State Vikings bested the Detroit Titans, 86-78, in a Horizon League showdown at Calihan Hall.
Forbes shot 7-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range for Cleveland State (15-9, 6-3 Horizon) while also knocking down 9-of-10 at the foul line. Sebastian Douglas (14 points), Charlie Lee (13 points, seven assists) and Jon Harris (12 points) were also solid for the Vikings, who have won a season-high four straight games.
For Detroit (10-14, 3-6), Evan Bruinsma scored 21 points, Juwan Howard, Jr. poured in 20, Carlton Brundidge netted 15 and Ugochukwu Njoku hauled in 10 rebounds.
Cleveland State took a comfortable 39-28 lead into the halftime locker room after shooting a lofty 62.5 percent from the field in the opening stanza. Detroit, meanwhile, shot just 36.4 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
The Vikings' hot shooting continued in the second half, making 56.5 percent of their field goal tries, and while the Titans improved to a blistering 70.4 percent, they never brought their deficit to single digits.
Cleveland State earned a 21-11 scoring advantage at the foul line and shot 9- of-14 from 3-point range on the night.Game Notes
