Recap: Marist vs. Fairfield
Poughkeepsie, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 15 points from Khallid Hart, the Marist Red Foxes made easy work of the Fairfield Stags, 75-56, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at McCann Arena.
Jay Bowie and Chavaughn Lewis scored 14 points apiece for Marist (4-9, 1-2 MAAC), while Manny Thomas chipped in 10. Bowie also grabbed eight rebounds for the Red Foxes, who have won four in a row after an 0-9 start to the season.
For Fairfield (3-10, 0-3), Sean Grennan poured in 14 points, while Coleman Johnson and Marcus Gilbert netted 11 and 10, respectively.
Marist outshot Fairfield from the floor in the first half, 43.5 percent to 33.3 percent, as it took a 29-19 lead into intermission.
The Red Foxes never trailed after halftime and pulled away from the Stags thanks in large part to a 25-of-29 showing at the foul line over the final 20 minutes.
Both teams made 19 field goals, but the difference was made at the charity stripe, where Marist finished 32-of-40 compared to just 11-of-17 for Fairfield.Game Notes
