Recap: Canisius vs. Manhattan
Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - George Beamon knocked in a game-high 27 points as the Manhattan Jaspers topped the Canisius Golden Griffins, 84-73, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Koessler Athletic Center.
Ashton Pankey logged a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Jaspers (16-6, 9-4 MAAC), who have won back-to-back games. Shane Richards and Michael Alvarado contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Billy Baron notched 22 points to lead the Golden Griffins (16-8, 10-3), who had their four-game winning streak stopped. Dominique Raney and Zach Lewis scored 15 and 13 points, respectively.
The Jaspers started strong, shooting 56.3 percent from the field in the opening half. At the other end, the Griffins shot 39.3 percent and trailed 47-35 at the half.
In the second half, the Jaspers shot 46.2 percent from the floor to the Griffins' 41.7 percent, as they continued to keep the game just out of reach for their opponent.
Manhattan outscored the home team 36-28 in the paint and 15-9 on fast-break points. Canisius never led in the contest.Game Notes
