Recap: South Dakota St vs. Western Ill

Brookings, SD (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Dykstra netted 20 points, hitting all of his 10 free-throw attempts, as the South Dakota State Jackrabbits cruised to a 64-55 victory over the Western Illinois Leathernecks in Summit League action at Frost Arena.

Brayden Carlson scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for SDSU (10-8, 2-1 Summit). Cody Larson chipped in 13 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in the win. The Jackrabbits have won six of their last seven matchups.

Garret Covington scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting for the Leathernecks (7-10, 1-1). Tate Stensgaard scored seven points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Western Illinois has lost four of its last six games.

South Dakota State took a 34-27 lead into the half after shooting 44.8 percent from the floor, though WIU hit 50 percent of its field goal attempts in the half.

The Jackrabbits' shooting touch took a hit in the second frame, dropping to 35.3 percent from the floor. WIU's did the same, dipping to 34.8 percent. SDSU connected on 16-of-17 from the free-throw line in the period.

The Jackrabbits had the edge from the free-throw line, 20-12, and the advantage in points in the paint, 20-12.
