Recap: Denver vs. Nebraska Omaha
Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Cam Griffin scored 14 points and brought down seven rebounds as the Denver Pioneers downed the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks, 72-60, in Summit League action at Magness Arena.
Chris Udofia netted 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double for Denver (15-12, 8-4 Summit). Marcus Byrd chipped in 12 points with five boards, and Nate Engesser contributed 11 points with a team-high five assists in the win. The Pioneers have won five of their last six games played.
C.J. Carter scored 12 points to pace Nebraska Omaha (15-13, 4-8), adding five rebounds to his stat line. Mike Rostampour netted 10 points and pulled down nine boards in the loss, which was the fourth in a row for the Mavericks.
Denver hit 50 percent of its shot attempts in the first half, and went 7-of-13 from 3-point distance, taking a 41-34 lead into the intermission. Omaha connected on 40 percent of its field goal tries in the frame.
Both teams cooled off considerably in the second half. The Pioneers hit 37.9 percent of their shots in the period, including 1-of-10 from 3-point range. The Mavericks were even worse, completing 29 percent of their attempts and going 1-of-6 from deep.
Denver outscored Omaha from beyond the 3-point arc, 24-9, and had the slight edge in bench points, 23-21.Game Notes
