Recap: Denver vs. Alcorn State
El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Brett Olson scored 16 points and hit four 3- pointers as the Denver Pioneers pulled out a 67-49 win over the Alcorn State Braves as part of the Sun Bowl Invitational at the Don Haskins.
Chris Udofia finished the contest with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocked shots for the Pioneers (6-6), who have won six of their last eight games. Cam Griffin pulled down eight rebounds to go along with eight points.
LeAntwan Luckett scored a game-high 20 points but turned the ball over six times for Alcorn State (3-8). The Braves have lost seven consecutive games after jumping out to a 3-1 start to the season. Octavius Brown grabbed eight rebounds and scored eight points.
Denver went on a 17-0 run in the first half and led 37-17 at intermission, but the Braves hit their first eight shots of the second half and pulled within 11 with 5:27 remaining in the contest.
Then Alcorn State went the remaining 5:31 without hitting a field goal. The Braves shot 44.7 percent from the floor on 17-of-38 shooting that included 0- for-4 from beyond the arc.
The Pioneers hit 48.1 percent of their shots, including 9-of-24 from 3-point range. They also held a 34-24 advantage on the boards.Game Notes
