Recap: Pacific vs. San Francisco
Stockton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Avry Holmes tallied 18 points and eight assists, as the San Francisco Dons outlasted the Pacific Tigers in overtime, 81-72, in West Coast Conference action at the Spanos Center.
Matt Glover stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals for USF (11-6, 4-1 WCC), which has won three in a row. Cole Dickerson added 14 points and eight boards for the visitors.
For Pacific (9-6, 0-4), losers of four straight, Andrew Bock poured in 17 points, while Tony Gill contributed 15 points and seven rebounds. Ross Rivera and Trevin Harris scored 14 and 10, respectively.
The first half ended with Pacific leading, 36-30, after it shot 42.9 percent from the field (including 5-of-7 from 3-point range) compared to USF's 40 percent.
The teams went back and forth in the second half, and with the Tigers up by one with 37 seconds remaining, the Dons took the lead on a Holmes layup. USF extended its advantage to two points a few seconds later following a 1-of-2 trip to the line by Glover, but Sama Taku connected on a layup with six seconds left to tie the game at 63. After Glover missed a jumper at the buzzer, the game went to overtime.
It was all USF in the extra session, as the Dons shot 4-of-6 from the field and 8-of-8 at the foul line in the final five minutes to pull away for the victory.
Pacific was held to a lowly 31.6 percent from the field on the evening and only managed to stay in the game thanks to a great showing from the free-throw line (30-of-37).Game Notes
