Recap: Samford vs. Chattanooga

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Williams notched a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, helping the Samford Bulldogs to a 92-85 overtime win against the Chattanooga Mocs in Southern Conference action at the Pete Hanna Center.

Williams shot 10-of-12 from the field for the Bulldogs (11-15, 5-6 SoCon), who have won two of their last three games. Isaiah Williams (20 points), Tyler Hood (14) and Brandon Roberts (13) were the other double-digit scorers.

Gee McGhee logged 21 points to lead the Mocs (15-11, 9-2), who have lost three of their last four. Ronrico White (19 points), Martynas Bareika (13) and Casey Jones (10) also scored in double figures. Z. Mason grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 44.8 percent in the opening half, slightly better than their opponent's 40 percent. The Mocs, however, went 6-of-13 from the perimeter and held a 36-31 halftime lead.

The Mocs again shot 40 percent from the floor in the second half, as they were outpaced by the Bulldogs, who shot 60.7 percent. Trailing by two, a Mason layup with 31 seconds left tied the game at 77, sending it into overtime.

Connor Miller opened the overtime scoring for the Bulldogs with a 3-pointer, and Samford never gave up the lead, as Chattanooga hit just 2-of-6 from the floor in the period.

Samford dominated in the paint, where they outrebounded the visitors 47-39 and outscored the Mocs by a staggering 58-26.
