Recap: Pacific vs. Western Ill
Stockton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Gill scored a game-high 19 points as the Pacific Tigers took down the Western Illinois Leathernecks, 66-52, in a non-conference clash at the Spanos Center.
Also scoring in double figures for Pacific (3-0) were Sama Taku and Andrew Bock with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
The Leathernecks (0-3) were paced by Garret Covington who dropped in 16 points, while Adam Link delivered 15 as the team remained winless through three games.
Pacific connected on not only 58.1 percent from the field in the first half, but also 6-of-10 behind the 3-point line, en route to a commanding 44-23 advantage at the break. The Tigers turned the ball over just three times, compared to 11 miscues for the visitors.
In the second half Pacific left the door open while shooting just 27.3 percent from the field and 1-of-7 on the perimeter. However, at the same time Western Illinois missed all five opportunities on the outside and made a total of just eight field goals in the frame.
The Leathernecks finished the contest with more turnovers (17) than field goals (16).Game Notes
