Towson, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Jerrelle Benimon had a game-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds, as the Towson Tigers claimed a 68-61 overtime victory against the College of Charleston Cougars in Colonial Athletic Association action at SECU Arena.

Mike Burwell added 14 points and Rafriel Guthrie scored 12 off the bench for the Tigers (16-8, 7-2 CAA), who concluded a 4-0 homestand and swept the regular-season season series with CofC.

Canyon Barry had a team-high 14 points off the bench for the Cougars (12-13, 4-6), who have lost four of their last five games. Willis Hall chipped in with 13 points and eight boards in a losing effort.

Towson jumped out to a seven-point lead -- the largest of the game by either team -- at the 11:12 mark of the opening frame. However, the Tigers went on to shoot just 5-of-17 (.294) from the floor in the first half and trailed, 27-24, at intermission.

CofC led by as many as six early in the second stanza, but Towson continued to hang around behind a 50-percent shooting effort from the floor during the second half. Burwell's jumper with 20 seconds left in regulation tied the score at 53-53 and eventually forced overtime.

The Tigers dominated the extra session by attacking the rim as they shot 3- of-3 from the floor and made 9-of-10 free throws. The Cougars were just 3- of-12 from the floor in overtime, including a 1-of-7 effort from the perimeter.

The Tigers continued their best start in 20 years despite yielding a 21-5 advantage on the offensive glass, and a 22-5 edge in second-chance points, to CofC. The Cougars attempted 27 3-pointers for the game but made only six (.222), while Towson was an efficient 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.
