Recap: Coll of Charleston vs. UNC-Wilmington
Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Nori Johnson poured in 23 points to lift the College of Charleston Cougars to a 75-70 victory over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at TD Arena.
The Cougars (11-9, 3-2 CAA) also received a strong contribution from Willis Hall, who finished with 12 points and seven rebound. Anthony Thomas added 11 points, four assists and four steals for Charleston as it picked up its second win in three outings.
Cedrick Williams paced UNCW (6-15, 0-5) with 22 points and seven rebounds. Chris Dixon went 8-of-9 from the floor to net 21 points, but it was not enough to help the Seahawks avoid their 10th consecutive setback.
The hosts went into halftime with a 30-23 lead after they hit on 6-of-11 tries from beyond the arc and assisted seven of their 10 makes from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. UNCW connected on only 34.8 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half.
The Seahawks improved to knock down 60 percent of their shots from the floor and 8-of-11 attempts at the free-throw line in the second stanza. Charleston converted 15-of-21 shots at the charity stripe after the break to keep UNCW at bay.
The Cougars enjoyed a 33-26 edge in the rebounding battle. Despite the loss, UNCW outscored Charleston, 26-20, in the paint.Game Notes
