Recap: Samford vs. Wofford
Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Karl Cochran netted 27 points, helping the Wofford Terriers defeat the Samford Bulldogs, 71-61, in their first action in Southern Conference play at the Pete Hanna Center.
Cochran shot 10-of-17 from the field for the Terriers (6-7, 1-0 SoCon), including an impressive 6-of-10 from 3-point range. Eric Garcia added 14 points, knocking down 4-of-6 from the perimeter.
Tyler Hood tallied 22 points for the Bulldogs (6-10, 0-1), shooting 8-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from long range. Tim Williams scored 17 points on 8-of-11 from the field.
The Bulldogs shot a confident 60.9 percent from the floor in the first half, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range. The Terriers shot 46.2 percent on field goals, but that included 7-of-11 from the perimeter. The teams were tied at 32 at halftime.
Shooting an identical percentage from the field in the second half as they did in the first, the Terriers knocked down another four 3-pointers and hit 11- of-16 at the line. The Bulldogs, shooting 47.8 percent from the floor, struggled with just 2-of-9 from long range and only got to the stripe for 5- of-7.
The Terriers grabbed 32 rebounds to the Bulldogs' 22 and outscored the Bulldogs on bench points, 22-11, and second-chance points, 11-6.Game Notes
