Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Willis Hall registered a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Charleston Cougars shut down the Northeastern Huskies, 58-49, in Colonial Athletic Association play at Matthews Arena.
Coming up a rebound shy of his own double-double for the Cougars (10-8, 2-1 CAA) was Anthony Thomas who registered 16 points, as well as five assists and five steals. Anthony Stitt pitched in with 10 points as the squad won for the fifth time in six tries.
Scott Eatherton produced 19 points and 16 rebounds, both game highs, but at the same time he was charged with six turnovers as the Huskies (4-13, 1-2) bowed for the fifth time in six outings. David Walker logged 10 points and seven boards for the hosts.
Both teams had a hard time finding the basket in the first half, yet even with just 37.5 percent accuracy from the field, including 2-of-7 behind the 3-point line, Northeastern was able to claim a 21-19 advantage at the break. Charleston converted only 30.8 percent from the floor in the period.
In the second half the Cougars turned it around with 50.0 percent shooting from the field, but again the Huskies struggled with a total of only nine field goals, allowing the visitors to come away with the victory.
Northeastern turned the ball over 15 times and shot a mere 8-of-16 at the free-throw line, yet that was still better than Charleston which finished up 8-of-17 at the charity stripe.Game Notes
