Recap: San Diego vs. Santa Clara
San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Clark netted 23 points as the Santa Clara Broncos edged out the San Diego Toreros, 69-63, in a West Coast Conference showdown at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Jared Brownridge scored 17 points for Santa Clara (11-15, 4-9 WCC). The Broncos shot 42.6 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from 3-point distance in the win. The victory snaps a seven-game losing streak for Santa Clara.
Duda Sanadze scored 23 points to pace San Diego (13-13, 4-9), which has lost three games in a row. Johnny Dee chipped in 18 points, and Christopher Anderson tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and four steals in the defeat.
Santa Clara shot 46.7 percent in the first half, including 6-of-13 from 3- point range, and took a slight 35-34 lead into the break. San Diego connected on 48 percent of its field goal tries in the frame, including a perfect 3-of-3 from deep.
The Broncos fell to 37.5 percent shooting in the second period, but hit 12- of-16 from the free-throw line. The Toreros took a plummet to 28.6 percent shooting in the half.
Santa Clara had the edge in second chance points, 21-14, and in bench points, 18-5. San Diego held the advantage in points in the paint, 18-4.Game Notes
