Recap: Weber State vs. Southern Utah

Ogden, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Davion Berry scored a game-high 25 points and dished out four assists as the Weber State Wildcats were able to edge out the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, 65-59, in Big Sky Conference play at the Dee Evans Center.

Berry was the only Wildcats player to notch double figures in the win, while Kyndah Hill pulled down a team-best eight rebounds for Weber State (7-6, 4-1 Big Sky). The Wildcats have won five of their last six games.

Trey Kennedy netted a team-high 17 points for Southern Utah (1-14, 0-6). Jaren Jeffery and A.J. Hess each scored 16 points in the loss. Southern Utah has lost 14 consecutive games, and has not beat a Division I opponent this season.

The Thunderbirds actually came out hot in the first half, netting 51.9 percent of their shots, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. They took a 32-29 lead into the intermission, as Weber State connected on 43.5 percent of their field goal tries in the frame.

Weber State's shooting accuracy actually decreased in the second period, dropping to 33.3 percent. Southern Utah's dipped to 36 percent, but the Wildcats earned the victory primarily from the free-throw line, outscoring the Thunderbirds in the half, 28-6, from the charity stripe.

Weber State outscored SUU in the paint, 16-8, and had the edge in fast break points, 8-0.
