Recap: Citadel vs. Furman
Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendrec Ferrara notched a double-double on 27 points and 10 rebounds, as the Furman Paladins edged out The Citadel Bulldogs, 76-71, in Southern Conference action at McAlister Field House.
Ferrara shot 12-of-17 from the field for the Paladins (7-12, 1-5 SoCon), who snapped a five-game losing streak. Charlie Reddick and Stephen Croone added 16 and 12 points, respectively.
Ashton Moore netted 25 points to lead the Bulldogs (4-16, 0-5), who have lost eight in a row. Matt Van Scyoc and Brian White contributed 17 and 10 points, respectively. P.J. Horgan grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Bulldogs struggled to get field goals to drop in the first half, shooting just 31.4 percent. The Paladins, in turn, nearly doubled their opponent's production, shooting a solid 60 percent, including 7-of-11 from 3-point range, going up 39-25 at halftime.
Citadel turned its fortunes around in the second half, where they shot a much- improved 65.4 percent from the floor and actually outscored Furman, 46-37. The Paladins, shooting 37.5 percent, never let their lead slip away and were able to hang on for the win.
Perimeter shooting was the difference in this one, as the Paladins made 10- of-20 from beyond the arc, while the Bulldogs knocked down just 5-of-15.Game Notes
