Recap: North Dakota vs. Portland State
Grand Forks, ND (SportsNetwork.com) - Troy Huff scored 24 points and collected five steals as North Dakota topped Portland State, 83-73, in a Big Sky Conference contest at the Sioux Center.
Aaron Anderson added 12 points and five assists for North Dakota (13-14, 10-7 Big Sky). Josh Schuler chipped in 11 points.
Andre Winston netted 20 points and Kyle Richardson contributed a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds to go with five blocks for Portland State (13-13, 8-9). Gary Winston tacked on 12 points and DaShaun Wiggins tipped in 10.
Despite being outshot, 44.4 to 41.9 percent in the first half, North Dakota led, 32-27, at halftime. The difference came from beyond the arc, where the hosts had a 12-3 scoring advantage.
North Dakota improved to 54.8 percent shooting in the second half, but it needed a 13-of-16 effort from the free-throw line to stave off the Vikings, who netted 58.1 percent in the final period.
The hosts had a 19-7 scoring edge off of turnovers. Portland State outscored North Dakota, 48-38, in the paint.Game Notes
