Recap: Eastern Mich vs. Ohio
Ypsilanti, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Stevie Taylor scored 14 points to help the Ohio University Bobcats to a 58-56 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a Mid-American Conference tilt at the Convocation Center.
Taylor logged just 16 minutes before fouling out. Nick Kellogg and Javarez Willis chipped in 12 points each for the Bobcats (14-5, 4-2 MAC) as they picked up their third win in four outings. Maurice Ndour paced the visitors on the glass with 14 boards.
Karrington Ward recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for EMU (11-8, 3-3). Glenn Bryant provided a spark off the bench with 14 points and seven boards while Da'Shonte Riley grabbed nine rebounds and swatted three shots on the defensive end of the floor.
The Eagles began the game on a 9-0 run and led by as many as 11 on three occasions in the first period. EMU outscored the Bobcats, 16-2, in the paint in the opening 20 minutes en route to a 30-22 halftime lead.
Ohio trailed for the majority of the second period and faced a 55-46 deficit with 4:09 left in regulation. The Bobcats then closed out the contest on a 12-1 run to steal the decision. Willis broke a 55-55 tie with a clutch make from 3-point range with 27 seconds left to give Ohio its first lead of the game.
The Bobcats outscored the Eagles, 30-6, from beyond the arc and enjoyed a 45-42 edge in the rebounding battle. Both sides struggled from the field as Ohio converted 34.5 percent of its field goal attempts while the Eagles shot 34.5 percent from the floor.Game Notes
