Recap: Montana vs. Portland State
Missoula, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Kareem Jamar logged 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Montana Grizzlies beat the Portland State Vikings in overtime, 82-76, in a Big Sky Conference tilt at Dahlberg Arena.
Keron DeShields also scored 19 points for the Grizzlies (11-9, 6-5 Big Sky), who extended their winning streak to three games. Mike Weisner added 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Mario Dunn had 10 points.
Kyle Richardson registered a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings (11-9, 6-5), who had a four-game winning streak snapped. Gary Winston netted 16 points while DaShaun Wiggins tallied 11 and Tim Douglas had 10 and five assists.
Montana shot 52.2 percent from the field in the first period, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, as it led 34-26 at halftime. PSU connected on 50 percent of its field goal attempts, but took five fewer shots.
After trailing for most of the second frame the Vikings took a one point lead with 2:52 left. The Grizzlies and Vikings went back-and-forth, keeping the game within three points until DeShields made a layup with 16 seconds to play, tying the game at 69 and forcing overtime
PSU tied the game up at 71-71 with 3:40 to play in the extra session. From that point Montana went on an 11-5 run to close out the game.
