Recap: St Bonaventure vs. Delaware
St. Bonaventure, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 23 points from Matthew Wright, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies downed the Delaware Blue Hens, 80-73, in non-conference action at the Reilly Center.
For the Bonnies (9-4), Youssou Ndoye added 15 points and six blocks, while Charlon Kloof dished out seven assists.
Kyle Anderson led the Blue Hens (6-7) with 23 points, doing so on 7-of-12 from 3-point range. Devon Saddler scored 18 for the visitors and Davon Usher posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Bonaventure knocked down 50 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, as it took a 40-28 lead into the break. It held Delaware to just 30.8 percent shooting, limiting the Blue Hens to just one made 3-pointer on 13 attempts in the half.
The Blue Hens were much more effective from deep after halftime, draining 7- of-11 from beyond the arc, part of a 41.7 percent shooting performance in the second half. The Bonnies continued to shoot well from the field, hitting on 54.5 percent, but missed all four of their tries from beyond the arc in the period. Trailing for the entire half, the Blue Hens got as close as six in the final minute but could get no closer, as the Bonnies held on for the victory.
The Bonnies dominated in the paint, outscoring the Blue Hens 46-30 down low. Delaware was able to score 21 second-chance points to just eight for St. Bonaventure.Game Notes
