Recap: Saint Josephs vs. VA Commonwealth
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Langston Galloway erupted for 24 points and pulled down six rebounds as the Saint Joseph's Hawks defeated the Rams of Virginia Commonwealth, 69-62, in Atlantic 10 Conference play at Hagan Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Hawks (16-7, 6-3 A-10) was DeAndre Bembrey who dropped in 18 points, while Halil Kanacevic filled out his state line with 10 rebounds, seven points, seven assists and a pair of blocks as the team won for the third time in four games.
The Rams (19-5, 7-2) were paced by Juvonte Reddic with 17 points and eight boards, followed by Melvin Johnson with 14 points off the bench as they had a six-game win streak come to an end. Treveon Graham pitched in with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Briante Weber tallied 11 points and four assists in the setback.
VCU's largest lead of the contest was just two points as the team shot 40.7 percent from the field in the first half, including a mere 1-of-6 behind the 3-point line, as the Hawks pulled out to a 34-26 advantage at the break.
In the second half the hosts converted a modest 45.8 percent from the field and connected on 9-of-12 at the charity stripe in order to secure the upset win.
