Recap: Miami-Ohio vs. Central Mich
Oxford, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Will Felder finished with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Miami-Ohio RedHawks to an 86-80 victory over the Central Michigan Chippewas in a Mid-American Conference tilt at Millett Hall.
For the RedHawks (7-9, 3-2 MAC), Will Sullivan added 20 points and Bill Edwards finished with 13 points.
Chris Fowler led the Chippewas (7-10, 0-5) with 19 points, while Austin Keel added 13 points, John Simons scored 11 and Braylon Rayson and Austin Stewart each chipped in with 10.
Miami shot well to open the contest, making 50 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, as the RedHawks took a 32-29 advantage into intermission. CMU shot just 30.8 percent and 4-of-14 from beyond the arc, but outscored the RedHawks 9-1 from the free-throw line in the half to stay close.
After the break, both teams were sharp from the floor. The RedHawks connected on 67.9 percent and the Chippewas 59.4 percent, including an impressive 9- of-17 from 3-point range. With the game tied at 50-50 with 12:55 to play, the RedHawks went on a 16-5 run to build a comfortable lead. The Chippewas were able to cut it to four in the final minute but the RedHawks hung on for the victory and kept CMU out of the win column in conference play.
Miami had the edge on points in the paint, 40-24. The RedHawks also finished with a 14-4 advantage in fast break points.Game Notes
