Recap: Colgate vs. Holy Cross
Hamilton, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 17 points from Malcolm Miller, the Holy Cross Crusaders nipped the Colgate Raiders, 69-68, in Patriot league action at Cotterell Court.
For the Crusaders (13-10, 7-4 Patriot), Dave Dudzinski added 14 points and Justin Burrell and Eric Green each chipped in with 11 points.
Murphy Burnatowski led the Raiders (8-14, 2-9) with 16 points while Chad Johnson and Ethan Jacobs each finished with 10 points. Austin Tillotson dished out seven assists.
Both squads shot very well to start the contest. Colgate connected on 58.3 percent from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point distance, as the Raiders led at the break, 36-31. Holy Cross shot even better, knocking down 61.9 percent of its field goal tries, but was not quite as productive beyond the arc, shooting 3-of-8.
The Raiders stayed hot after intermission, hitting on 58.3 percent and 3-of-7 from 3-point range. The Crusaders were not at hot, making 46.9 percent of their shots, but were effective deep, draining 4-of-10 from 3-point distance. Trailing 65-63 with under two minutes to play, the Crusaders scored six straight points to take the lead down the stretch and hold on for the victory.
Holy Cross was able to convert 10 turnovers into 13 points, while the Crusaders themselves committed just nine miscues. With only 23 personal fouls called, the teams combined to shoot just 11 free-throws in the entire game, making nine between the two of them.Game Notes
