Recap: George Mason vs. Richmond
Fairfax, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sherrod Wright led the way with 19 points, as the George Mason Patriots took down the Richmond Spiders, 69-60, in an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup at the Patriot Center.
Wright shot 7-of-10 from the field for GMU (10-17, 3-10 A-10), which snapped a two-game losing skid. Bryon Allen tallied 18 points and seven rebounds, Patrick Holloway netted 10 points off the bench and Jalen Jenkins registered seven points, nine rebounds and five assists.
For Richmond (18-10, 8-5), Kendall Anthony led all scorers with 23 points but was only 9-of-24 shooting from the floor. Trey Davis added eight points and 12 rebounds for the visitors.
GMU shot a lofty 59.3 percent from the field in the first half, compared Richmond's dismal 24.1 percent showing, as the Patriots ran out to a commanding 37-16 halftime lead.
The Spiders clawed their way back in the game late, cutting their deficit to just five with 5:15 to play, but the Patriots effectively sealed their fate by ripping off seven unanswered points.
Richmond drained 10 3-pointers but needed 30 attempts to do so (.333). GMU had only five long-range tries but made four (.800).Game Notes
