Recap: Murray State vs. Morehead State
Murray, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Cameron Payne netted a game-high 23 points and connected on 4-of-7 from 3-point range as the Murray State Racers cruised past the Morehead State Eagles, 69-58, in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at CFSB Center.
Jeffery Moss netted 15 points and grabbed five rebounds for Murray State (17-9, 12-2 OVC), while Jarvis Williams chipped in with 13 points, six boards and three blocked shots. Dexter Fields added 10 points, and Jonathan Fairell pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in the win. Murray State has won four games in a row.
Angelo Warner scored 18 points to lead Morehead State (19-10, 10-4), and Chad Posthumus contributed 14 points with nine boards. The Eagles, who ended a five-game win streak with the defeat, shot a dismal 19 percent from 3-point range in the contest.
Murray State came out firing in the first half, netting 57.7 percent of its field goal tries, going 5-of-12 from 3-point distance. The Racers took a 40-23 lead into the intermission after Morehead State connected on 36 percent of its shots in the frame.
The Racers dropped their shooting accuracy down to 42.9 percent in the second half, and hit just 1-of-7 from deep. The Eagles hit 47.1 percent of their attempts in the period, and outscored Murray State 35-29 in the half, but couldn't come back from the first-half deficit.
Murray State had the advantage from the free-throw line, 15-4. Morehead State won the battle for points in the paint, 40-28, and in bench points, 23-2.Game Notes
