Recap: Richmond vs. Fordham
Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 24 points from Kendall Anthony, the Richmond Spiders downed the Fordham Rams, 82-70, in an Atlantic 10 Conference clash at the Robins Center.
For the Spiders (17-8, 7-3 A-10), winners of three straight, ShawnDre' Jones added 14 points, Deion Taylor finished with 13 and Trey Davis scored 11 on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field.
Jon Severe dropped in a game-high 28 points for the Rams (9-15, 2-9), who fell for the third-straight time. Branden Frazier chipped in with 24 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.
Richmond knocked down 52 percent of its shots in the first half, including 6- of-14 from beyond the arc, as the Spiders took a 38-31 lead at the break. Fordham hit on 44.4 percent of its field goal tries in the frame and 3-of-8 from 3-point distance.
After intermission the Spiders stayed hot from the field, connecting on 51.9 percent but just 3-of-10 from 3-point range. Fordham struggled in the second half, making only 40.6 percent of its shots from the field. After the Rams cut the lead to 54-51 with under nine minutes to play, the Spiders went on a 13-4 run to put the game away.
The Spider took advantage of the Rams' mistakes, forcing 14 turnovers and converting them into 23 points. The Rams did have the edge on the boards, outrebounding the Spiders 37-25.Game Notes
