Recap: Duquesne vs. Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cameron Wright's career-high 20 points helped lift the Pittsburgh Panthers to an 84-67 win over the Duquesne Dukes in the 82nd City Game at the CONSOL Energy Center.
Lamar Patterson filled the stat sheet with 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Panthers (7-0), who have won all seven of their games by double digits. Talib Zanna added 13 points, and Durand Johnson scored 11 off the bench.
Ovie Soko had 17 points to lead the shorthanded Dukes (2-3), who were without top 3-point shooter Michael Mason, as well as Isaiah Watkins and Jordan Robinson. Jeremiah Jones tallied 13 points and seven boards, while Derrick Colter scored 12 in the loss.
Pitt put together an early 12-0 spurt and took a 39-35 halftime lead into the locker room. Zanna scored 12 of his 13 points in the opening frame as he shot 5-of-7 from the floor.
The Panthers dominated the second half by shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and making 12-of-15 free throws. Defensively, they held Duquesne to 8-of-25 shooting (.320) over the final 20 minutes.
Pitt has now won 13 straight and 32 of the last 35 meetings in the head-to- head series.Game Notes
