Recap: SE Missouri St vs. Eastern Ill

Cape Girardeau, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Reggie Smith tallied 23 points and six assists, as the Eastern Illinois Panthers narrowly defeated the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, 77-74, in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at the Show Me Center.

Dylan Chatman and Chris Oliver scored 13 points apiece with Oliver pulling down nine rebounds for the Panthers (7-13, 4-5 OVC).

Tyler Stone had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Redhawks (11-10, 3-5), who snapped their two-game winning streak. Jarekious Bradley added 18 points, while Lucas Nutt chipped in 17 on 6-of-6 from the field to go with five assists.

EIU shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the first half and held a 39-33 lead at the break. SEMO made 42.9 percent of its shots from the field, including just 1-of-8 from 3-point range.

The Panthers converted 46.4 percent of their field goal tries in the second stanza. With just over five minutes left, the Redhawks went on a 20-10 run to close out the game but they were unable to pull off the comeback.

EIU's bench outscored SEMO's reserves, 40-8.
