Recap: Wright State vs. Eastern Ill
Dayton, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Miles Dixon and Chrishawn Hopkins each scored nine points to lead the Wright State Raiders to a 70-43 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers in a non-conference battle at the Nutter Center.
For the Raiders (6-7), Reggie Arceneaux and Cole Darling each chipped in with eight points.
Sherman Blanford posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Panthers (3-7), while Alex Austin added 10 points, as Eastern Illinois fell for the fifth-straight game.
The Panthers shot 44.4 percent from the field in the first half compared to 41.7 percent for Wright State, but the Raiders forced 12 turnovers while committing only four, resulting in an 11-2 points off of turnover differential. Eastern Illinois led, 21-19, with 6:44 remaining in the first half, but the Raiders closed the period with a 12-2 run to go up 31-23 at the half.
The Panthers struggled from the field in the second half, making just 36.8 percent of their field goal tries while the Raiders knocked down a red-hot 70 percent of their shots from the floor after intermission. Wright State used a 13-0 run midway through the second half to put the game away, as it cruised to victory and snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Raiders finished the contest with a 20-9 scoring advantage on points off of turnovers. They also had a slight edge on the boards, 24-22.Game Notes
