Recap: Tulsa vs. TX-San Antonio
Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - In a highly contested overtime bout, D'Andre Wright made a layup with one second remaining on the clock to lift the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes to a thrilling 72-70 overtime victory over the Texas- San Antonio Roadrunners in Conference USA action at Reynolds Center.
Wright tallied 12 points and seven rebounds for Tulsa (17-12, 12-3 C-USA). James Woodard led the Hurricanes with 19 points, adding seven rebounds to his stat line. Stevie Repichowski added 13 points off the bench in the overtime win, which was the sixth victory in a row for Tulsa.
Devon Agusi scored 17 points to pace UTSA (8-20, 4-11), contributing five rebounds. Keon Lewis chipped in 13 points and four assists, while Phillip Jones grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss. The Roadrunners have dropped four consecutive contests.
Tulsa shot 46.4 percent from the floor in the first half, including 5-of-14 from 3-point range. The Hurricanes took a 34-22 lead into the intermission after UTSA hit 40.9 percent of its field goal tries, but went just 1-of-6 from deep.
The Roadrunners made a furious comeback in the second half, netting 53.8 percent of their shots and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. Tulsa shot just 29.2 percent in the period, allowing UTSA to come back and tie the score. Kaj-Bjorn Sherman connected on a free-throw attempt to knot the score at 64 apiece with 30 seconds remaining, and Woodard missed a jumper as time expired that would have won the game.
The extra period was a back-and-forth contest, with each team netting six points before Wright's game-winning layup.
Tulsa had the advantage in points off turnovers, 33-14, and in bench points, 26-16.Game Notes
