Recap: Tulane vs. Northeastern
New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Louis Dabney scored 20 points and handed out six assists as the Tulane Green Wave slipped by Northeastern, 65-62, in the finale of the Tulane Classic at Devlin Fieldhouse.
Also scoring in double figures for Tulane (7-6) were Jonathan Stark and Jay Hook with 12 and 11 points, respectively, although they combined to shoot only 6-of-21 from the floor as the team won for the third time in four games.
The Huskies (3-9) were paced by David Walker with 18 points as he converted 4- of-7 shots behind the 3-point line, while Zach Stahl and Scott Eatherton accounted for 16 and 10 points, respectively. Reggie Spencer contributed with a game-high 13 rebounds, but still Northeastern suffered a seventh loss in eight outings.
Despite shooting just 8-of-25 from the floor in the first half, Northeastern actually held an early lead over the Green Wave. However, the Huskies had considerable trouble behind the 3-point line (2-of-10) and at the charity stripe (7-of-15) in the period, leading to a 26-25 deficit at the break.
In the second half the Huskies jumped to 54.5 percent accuracy from the field, but still the free-throw line was not kind (8-of-15), allowing Tulane to take control late and hold on for the three-point win.
In a game that featured seven ties and 12 lead changes, it was a poor free- throw shooting display that kept Northeastern out of the win column.Game Notes
