Recap: Tulane vs. Marshall

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - With two seconds remaining in the contest, Jay Hook connected on a 3-pointer to break a 65-65 tie and lift the Tulane Green Wave over the Marshall Thundering Herd, 68-65, in a Conference USA showdown at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Hook finished the game with 11 points for Tulane (13-11, 5-4 C-USA). Jonathan Stark led all Green Wave scorers with 17 points and six assists, while Louis Dabney and Payton Henson each netted 14 points in the thrilling win. Dabney added four steals to his resume. Tulane has now won back-to-back games.

Chris Thomas led all scorers in the game with 21 points for Marshall (8-17, 2-8). Kareem Canty contributed 16 points and Cheikh Sane added 11 with seven rebounds in the loss, which was the third in a row for the Herd.

Tulane came out hot to start the contest, knocking down 55 percent of its shot attempts in the period and taking a 33-29 lead into the intermission. Marshall connected on 42.1 percent of its shots in the frame.

The Green Wave dropped their shooting percentage down to 39.3 in the second half, while the Thundering Herd boosted theirs to 46.2 percent, but went just 1-of-6 from 3-point range. The Herd were able to tie the score at 65 apiece on two free throws with 28 seconds left. After a 30-second timeout with 24 ticks to play, Hook was able to get free for the game clincher.

Tulane had the advantage in bench points, 22-8, and in points off turnovers, 17-12. Marshall led in points in the paint, 28-20.
