Recap: Georgia State vs. ULM
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Manny Atkins scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Georgia State Panthers ran away with a 75-60 victory over the ULM Warhawks in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at GSU Sports Arena.
Devonta White netted 20 points and dished out five assists for Georgia State (19-7, 12-1 SBC). R.J. Hunter chipped in 12 points of his own with five boards, and Markus Crider came off the bench to score 10 points with seven rebounds. The Panthers have won two straight games and 16 of their last 17.
Nick Coppola tallied 16 points to lead ULM (8-13, 5-8), adding five rebounds and five assists to his stat line. Tylor Ongwae contributed 14 points and seven boards, and Chinedu Amajoyi added 11 points in the loss, which was the fourth in the Warhawks' last five games.
Georgia State shot 44.8 percent from the floor in the first half, and connected on 5-of-17 from 3-point range to take a 37-28 lead into the intermission. ULM hit an even 44 percent of its field goal tries in the frame, including 4-of-9 from deep.
The Panthers upped their shooting to 50 percent in the second period, hitting just 2-of-9 from 3-point distance, but connected on 8-of-11 from the free- throw line. The Warhawks slipped to 32.1 percent shooting in the second, and hit just 52.9 percent of their free-throw tries (9-of-17) in the frame. Georgia State built on its first-half lead and cruised to victory.
The Panthers had the edge in points in the paint, 36-22, and outscored the Warhawks in points off turnovers, 18-9.Game Notes
