Recap: Troy vs. Georgia State
Troy, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jeff Mullahey netted 27 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Troy Trojans outlasted the Georgia State Panthers, 85-81, in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at Trojan Arena.
Tevin Calhoun scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the double- double, and Antoine Myers tallied 15 points, nine boards and five assists for Troy (9-15, 4-8 Sun Belt). The Trojans have won two of their last three games.
R.J. Hunter scored a game-high 26 points, hitting 5-of-11 from 3-point range, adding six rebounds for Georgia State (17-7, 10-1). Manny Atkins notched 18 points, and Ryan Harrow chipped in 15 points with a team-high six assists. Devonta White contributed 11 points in the loss, which ended a 14-game win streak for the Panthers.
Troy connected on 50 percent of its shot attempts in the first half, including 5-of-14 from 3-point range, and took a 39-32 lead into the intermission. Georgia State hit 41.7 percent of its field goal tries in the period.
The Panthers made a run to get back in it in the second half, hitting 51.5 percent of their shot tries. The Trojans managed to fend off any full comeback by hitting 48 percent of their shots in the period, including 7-of-13 from deep, and went 15-of-25 at the free-throw line.
Troy had the edge in rebounding, 39-32, and from the charity stripe, 23-18. Georgia State, which lost its first game in conference play this season, outscored the Trojans in the paint, 28-24.Game Notes
